BeFunky – Driving Top Google Rankings with a Headless CMS

Quick Wins

  • #1 on Google for “collage maker”

  • 40.2% of all organic visits came from new pages

  • 60.5% less developer time needed for page launches

Role

Design Director, hands-on with systems and strategy
I led the design direction and UX systems for a new headless CMS approach—partnering across teams to create flexible, fast-loading, SEO-optimized landing pages that empowered non-dev contributors.

Background

BeFunky wanted to dominate key search terms, but our old content system was slow and dev-dependent. Pages took weeks to launch, weren’t optimized for search, and lacked visual consistency.

The goal:

  • Build pages faster, without needing engineers

  • Improve SEO rankings for high-value terms

  • Maintain strong brand consistency across the site

  • Support marketing campaigns and product launches in real time

Solution Highlights

Reusable Design System

  • Created flexible hero, features, CTAs, and testimonial modules in Figma

  • Integrated with a headless CMS for dynamic page creation

SEO-Optimized, User-Focused Pages

  • Designed around top search queries and user needs

  • Clean structure, accessible components, and clear content hierarchy

Performance Improvements

  • Optimized images, added alt tags, improved load speed

  • Collaborated closely with engineering to meet accessibility and SEO best practices

Faster, Smoother Launches

  • Empowered marketing and content teams to build pages independently

  • Reduced launch time from 2 weeks to under 48 hours

Outcomes

With a scalable system in place, BeFunky moved faster, ranked higher, and shipped better content—without compromising design or performance.

  • Site Link: BeFunky Photo Editor Features
