Building a Scalable Design System for Insurify
Quick Wins
50 percent reduction in design and development time
Increased design-engineering collaboration
System ready to support new products and features
Role
Design Manager
I led the creation of a unified design system to streamline Insurify’s expanding product suite. My focus was on modularity, scalability, and documentation—ensuring alignment across teams and long-term sustainability.
Background and Goal
As Insurify grew, its UI became fragmented. Teams used inconsistent patterns, which led to inefficiencies and a disjointed user experience. We needed a system that would:
Centralize and unify design standards
Reduce duplication across design and development
Scale with future product growth
Solutions
Defined a minimum viable set of components to build momentum and adoption
Created a modular architecture that supported reuse across web and mobile
Implemented design tokens to ensure consistency across platforms
Built documentation and templates to empower teams
Established a governance model for future updates and feedback
Research and Insights
Audited all existing UI components to identify overlap and inconsistencies
Interviewed product managers, designers, and engineers to surface pain points
Benchmarked leading design systems like Material and Atlassian for inspiration
Design Execution
Created a comprehensive Figma library with flexible, documented components
Prototyped and tested components with design and engineering for usability and fit
Worked closely with engineers to ensure seamless integration into the codebase
Held weekly syncs and collaborative sprints to stay aligned
Built a centralized hub for guidelines, accessibility standards, and design principles
Outcomes
The refreshed brand elevated trust and engagement, cut production time, and created a unified identity across Insurify’s digital and marketing channel, enabling faster, more consistent campaign rollouts.
